Superstar Enable strikes again for Nathaniel with her fourth Gr.1 win

Superstar filly Enable is proving a real superstar for her sire Nathaniel too, with another easy victory in a Group 1 race in landing Darley Yorkshire Oaks at York today.

She was in a different league to her rivals making all to gain her fourth Group 1 success by a clear margin of 5l, for trainer John Gosden and owner/breeder Juddmonte Farms.   She was readily following up her previous Group 1 wins in the Epsom and Irish Oaks and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, and has now beaten 10 individual Group 1 winners.  She is certainly justified in being the short priced favourite to land the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

Jockey Frankie Dettori said: I would prefer to have a lead but Enable is sensible enough to make the running and that is another option we have got if we go to an Arc and it's a small field, we've got that weapon in our armoury. She is a stayer with a turn of foot and she is uncomplicated. If you try to keep up with her, she'll break your lungs. I said to John that if something had sniffed her backside she would have taken off but she was too far clear. I am as impressed with her as you guys, winning four Group 1s by five lengths. I said to John after the Irish Oaks that I hadn't had a feel like it since Golden Horn in the Arc. She is top drawer and keeps delivering."

Trainer John Gosden said: "She pricked her ears and did it well, and Frankie said she got lonely in the last part.  She needed something to come to her and make her go and he said she was looking around and idling, but I don't mind as she was well clear."

BHA Handicapper, Adam Barnes, reacted by saying: "In running out a 5-length winner she has further solidified her reputation as one of the very best fillies seen in recent years.  She's proven herself under a variety of conditions, and in making all the running on this occasion also showed tactical versatility."

The Newsells Park Stud second-season sire, Nathaniel, is enjoying an excellent year with his three-year-olds with 10 Group/Stakes horses, which also include recent Group 3 Prix Minerve winner God Given.
