Newsells Park Stud Stud Fees 2014

Newsells Park Stud has announced unchanged stud fees for their dual Group 1 winners, Equiano, Mount Nelson and Nathaniel in 2014.

Equiano, the dual winner of the Gr.1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot remains at £8,000 (Oct 1st SLF), Mount Nelson, (sire of this year’s Gr.2 Royal Lodge winner, Berkshire), stays at £6,000 (Oct 1st SLF) while Nathaniel’s fee for 2014 also remains unchanged at £20,000 (Oct 1st SLF).

Commenting on the status quo for 2014, Newsells’ General Manager, Julian Dollar said, “For a variety of reasons, we feel that all three stallions are on an upward trend, but we want to make sure those who share our belief are able to profit from their success over the years to come. We have, however, listened to breeders and changed our payment terms to ‘Special Live Foal’ rather than ‘Live Foal, Free Return’.   As ever, there are no ‘Grooms fees’ or ‘Walking-in fees’ associated with our stallions.”

“Equiano has consistently been well supported by commercial breeders and they have been rewarded with very strong prices at the yearling sales.  As one bloodstock agent commented to me, ‘They look exactly like it says on the tin – sharp, fast and precocious’ and most importantly they seem to be going to all the right trainers.  He looks to have a great chance of being among the leading first season sires next year.”

“Mount Nelson has had a great year, with 10 Group or Stakes horses from his first two crops to date. His three year olds in 2014 will include the exciting Group 2 winner Berkshire, as well as other excellent prospects like Hors de Combat and Volume.  His offspring are clearly progressive and popular with trainers and he has produced two of the best juveniles in the UK for the past two years in Purr Along and Berkshire.  His yearlings sold well in 2013, averaging 60% more this year than in 2012.”

“Lastly, Nathaniel received incredible support from breeders in 2013 covering 148 high quality mares, (more than any other first season sire in the UK).  With an exceptional group of breeders, who make up his powerful syndicate behind him, he has a wonderful chance to succeed at stud. Few, if any, unproven sires can match Nathaniel on either performance or pedigree, and the mares he covered in his first year should give him a great start in the sales ring and on the racecourse.”
